R&D Tax Incentive review paper

In launching the

Tax

National Innovation and Science Agenda last year, the Australian Government announced that they would be undertaking a review of the R&D Tax Incentive program to make it better accessible to the business sector.

An Issue Paper has been developed by the panel to aid the review process by exploring the program’s current performance, design issues and policy rationale. The panel includes: Mr Bill Ferris AC (Chair of Innovation Australia), Dr Alan Finkel AO (Australia’s Chief Scientist) and Mr John Fraser (Secretary of The Treasury).

The R&D Tax Incentive review will aim to identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and integrity of the program. The review is currently being conducted with the report due to government in April 2016. Additionally, members of the public are also encouraged to have their say on the R&D Tax Incentive. This is due by close of business Monday 29th February 2016, and can be sent via post or email:
